Don’t Leave Me

A young teenage girl, made a mistake. Out of her emptiness she chose to seek love in the wrong way. Out of her desire and selfishness she let her guard down. Out of peer pressure she gave in. Whatever the reason, or combination of reasons the girl made a choice to give away the precious gift of her virginity.

There were so called friends, who ditched her. In times of trouble these “fair weather” friends were no where to be found. Other friends and even family pointed fingers at her, talked behind her back and to her face gave her lectures of what she should have and shouldn’t have done condemning her becoming her “accusers”. Even some in her church fell into both of these categories, leaving her without forgiveness or unconditional love. They all felt she needed to pay for her sin. If they showed her compassion, then she would think her actions were acceptable. Each of these failed to see the sin in their own lives. Maybe they didn’t recognize their own sin because their sin was so different from hers.

When we sin, make a mistake, fall flat on our face. Where do we turn? Do we have friends who understand, and stick with us through the hurt, the pain, the consequence?

The bible says in Romans 8:1 that those who are in Christ Jesus have no condemnation. He doesn’t point a finger.

Even believers sin. But believers should stick to believers like glue in all times. Proverbs 17:17 says a friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

What kind of friend are you?
