Tasking Overload

Funny how the memory can plays tricks on us 50’ers. After making my mug this morning, I sat to sip, but couldn’t remember if I added my life saving, daily “secret” health related ingredient, into the mug. Seriously, I had just filled my mug, sat down in the reading chair, looked out the window and snapped a pic, walked out to the patio snapped a couple more pics, stood for awhile breathing in the crisp morning air, come back into the house, began to pray, opened my bible, sipped some more, realizing it was cooler than I prefer, popped the mug in the microwave and………….

Being 50 may not have anything to do with our capability to remember. We might just be “too busy”. Keeping our mind on several subjects or tasks at one time can cause us to forget something, or forget something beneficial to us or others. It seems to be a part of life, or has been for me ever since I gave birth to my first child. Well let’s not just blame the kids, the Hubs came first! And bless his heart, before him was school work, chores and part time jobs!

Do you find yourself rarely (if ever) at a moment of relaxation or reflection? Are you adding to your daily TO DO list more than you can possibly get done in one day?  Have you forgotten to add something to the shopping list, or gone to the store without the list?

Besides memory fail being something medical, it can be a result of “tasking overload”. We women are pros at multi-tasking and million-tasking. If we aren’t careful we’ll blow a wire or two, and we’ll see smoke.

Join me as I sit’n’sip! Hmmm now, where did I set my mug?
