Sister/Friends

All week, I have reflected on and thanked God for the women in my life. As you read this know that you are prayed for and held in high esteem.

I wasn’t always so loving towards all females in my life. As a matter of fact, I had my little circle of friends that were like sisters to me, the rest of them were usually bullying me in some way and I was fighting them. I was such a brawler that even my girls could call on me to fight their battles for them. I was their personal body guard, nobody messed with my sister/friends.

Well after we graduated high school, I still had problems with certain female’s. I was in a relationship with a guy, and one evening I had worked late, then hung out with a few friends but hadn’t talked with my fella all day so I decided to drive past his house on my way home. To my surprise a female was exiting his humble abode and getting into her car. It was on! I followed her, then called all my girls when I got home and did my detective work to find out who she was and where she worked. Seriously, it didn’t take long to gather the info we lived in a small town, and it didn’t take long for her to hear that I was out to kick her butt! In the meantime our mutual love interest, got his ego pumped.

As we pulled up to a street corner, with several spectators, something spiritual happened. We both voiced our opinions, hashed out a few things and walked away being sister/friends and still are after 35 years. Our fella turned out to have several love interest’s, but the years have a way of smoothing that all out too…and that’s a whole other story.

I don’t know what I would have done without this girl in my life during my wild and crazy years. We live 800 miles away from each other, but our bond is still strong and “together we can handle, anything.” I’m very blessed in this way, God has placed some very amazing women in my life. Some that even take the place of my mother, now that she’s passed on.

These gal’s to me are like Angels…he even sends me one or two in the grocery store! Recently, I zoomed my cart through the isles looking for “fruit fresh” a preservative type thingy that keeps your fruit from browning when you freeze it. I also had a baking question and quite frankly…I just needed my Momma. As I struggled to hold back some tears, and feeling pretty frustrated the Lord sent me three very sweet and knowledgeable women…two were total strangers and one I’ve met on occasion a few times. Hubs wasn’t with me, but he laughs at how I talk to total strangers and tell them more than they need to know about everything!

As I type this, I am reminded of the struggles we all face as women regarding relationships with other women and with our need to be accepted. Let’s face it…we ain’t all Angels!

Join me today, and count your blessings..think of each sister/friend and call out her name to the Lord asking his blessing upon her.

“Father, we are grateful for the gal’s who are blessings in our lives, and give us eyes to see the one’s we need to be a blessing to. Bring someone into the life of those who are longing for friendship, heal the hurts from broken friendships and keep us ever striving to build good solid loving relationships. In Jesus name amen.”
