I Need That, I Better Buy It!

Strolling around Wal-Mart is not one of Hubs favorite things to do, and lately he’s gone with me a lot. We also have made a few trips to Lowe’s where he seems to not mind going, but knows it’s gonna cost him. Since we are military and Lowe’s graciously gives us a 10% discount it makes going there a lot easier. One thing I totally love is how our local Lowe’s employees always thank us for our service! It is nice to be appreciated. And we appreciate them back by shopping there….it’s a win win situation!

Speaking of shopping, I can get carried away. Recently, Hubs was looking at an outdoor table set that had been marked down. I said “let’s get it, we need it.” Our outdoor table bit the dust at the end of last fall. He then said, it really was more of a want than a need. It’s funny how our ideas of needs and wants are slightly different. A little light bulb went off in my brain as I realized how I view a lot of purchases as needs, rather than wants! I also realized that when I pray asking God to supply my needs, how often they are just wants.

I hope the light has come on for you as well. Do you spend more money on wants than needs? And what are you asking God for these days?

I hope you’ll join me… by making and keeping up with a list of wants and needs, then using this as a simple guide to balance your spending.

God, thank you for listening and answering our prayers, you take care of all our needs and a few wants as well, we are humbled by your goodness and generosity, may we always strive to be better stewards with our earnings and remember that all we have comes from you. In Jesus name Amen.
