All Welcome…..Just Not You

Hebrews 10:24 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Have you ever felt that you weren’t welcome somewhere? I’ve been in a few places in my life where I needed to be, but there were others there who didn’t want me present. A little like the rat (rat #2 that is, as rat #1 has recently met his fate) that’s been running through my garden. He needs to be there, eating and gathering food but, he is most definitely not wanted! Now I’m no rat and neither are you, as believers we are family, and family surrounds each other in good times and bad. Why is it then that there are some church goers whose doors are open to all, yet to some they never extend a hand of welcome? Instead they see certain people each week, and walk around them never having a conversation with them? This happens at work, school and even in our neighborhoods. We are all created equal but, we do carry differences that at times may keep us from being truly welcomed.
Jesus worked very hard at teaching his followers to love and care for each other just as he did for them all. He did this right where they were, not where he thought they should be and we can follow his example.
I invite you to join me as we welcome all, encourage all and serve all.
Father continue to teach us through your word and your example of how to love and encourage each other. Let us see the one standing next to us with compassion and grace. May we not stop gathering together bringing an uplifting word or the wisdom of discipline to each other. Please bring healing and restoration to those who have experienced rejection. In Jesus name amen.
