Up-Coming Election…A Mind Overload!!

You know it’s summer in the south when you plug in a fan out on the patio! Times are tough, and we can’t be sweatin’ in our happy place! With my feet up, I survey the blooms as the sun struggles with going to sleep. With all that is going on regarding the upcoming election, I need to unload, so I set my mind to think on things that are lovely, pure and noble. Phillipians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Quickly my attention is jolted as my eye catches the fast scurry of the “garden thief” as it runs from one end of the fence to the other then disappearing under the squash leaves.
I sit with eyes fixed on his location and I know that in the morning I will find teeth marks in the end of every low hanging squash and cucumber. While this rat thief is slightly entertaining, my fear is when winter comes he and his family will look to relocate from the neighbor’s thick row of weeds, into my warm cozy house!! Where are the hawks and cats when you need em’!
Before I my retreat into the house I text Hubs, something about a recon mission to go down in the garden when he gets home, and he responds with a 10-4!
If you’re mind is filled, confused and overworked due to the upcoming election or world events, why don’t you join me and take it outside. Let your mind wander as your ears pick up the joyful songs the birds sing, fix your thoughts on truth, recalling the scripture verses that speak to your heart. Invite the Lord to join you bringing with him his peace and assurance for your weary mind. And don’t forget your fan!
God, we lift these times of confusion, fear and doubt up to you; knowing that your plan is far greater than any a politician can scheme up; and give us peace as we trust you and not man, concerning the outcome of this election. In Jesus name Amen.
