Once You Do….You’ll Want to Do it Again and Again and Again!

Looking for a chair in the shade wasn’t an easy task at the water park as we arrived a few hours after it had opened and it was already packed. Luckily, I spotted one that I calculated in about an hr would catch the shade of a low hanging tree branch. After enjoying a couple of the pools and splash pad, my granddaughter announced she was ready to take on one of the big slides.

We stood for the longest time watching kids shoot out into the water, she was trying to see how many went under and how many managed to not get their faces wet. I didn’t try to coax her but I reassured her that when she was ready, she should try it as it would be so much fun. After watching a couple kids her size tackle it several times, she decided to go up the stairs. Reaching the top, she looked down at me and I gave her the thumbs up! Another moment passed and her she come back down the stairs. I didn’t force her or shame her but let her simply take her time. Again she started up the stairs, this time half way before returning to the bottom. She then spied another grandma going up with her granddaughter and nothing doin I had to go with her. Going up I assured her that it would be fun and she’ll want to do it again and again. I also reminded her that there was a lifeguard at the end to help her out. I even told her that if I could do it, she could! I slide first (not bad for a frumpy, fluffy ol’gal and may I add the heavier you are the faster you go!) and after I walked out, I saw her coming back down the stairs!
Isn’t that just like us when God calls us out to a specific area of service!? First we gotta warm up to the idea, we look at everyone else and compare, we shake our heads and say we can’t do it, others try to convince us we can do it, and we might even get started….but before it’s said and done.. we back out.
Let me tell you God does not call you out to leave you hanging. By his Holy Spirit you are equipped for any and every task he puts in front of you. Join me…It’s time to climb that ladder and trust in Him, leaving all fear behind. Once you do, you’ll want to do it again and again and again!
Romans 8:30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
God, we put our trust in you and the power of your Holy Spirit that lives in us, we will boldly walk where you direct our feet and serve you gladly. In Jesus name Amen.
