No Filter, No Problem….Not Really

As I sit’n’sip my morning brew, I am pondering this; what were Adam’s first words? (and no I don’t drink ale for breakfast.)
But seriously, aren’t you curious now? Words are vital. A single yes or no could mean life or death to someone. We are a people of many words, even though now days I see more and more people together on their phones and not talking to each other.

The women on the View say a lot of words, and a lot of people are listening, now probably more than ever regarding the Miss America comments. We should speak as though the whole world is listening. Now most of us don’t have the audience that a TV show gets…..but our family, circle of friends and anyone we come in contact throughout the day are…….listening.

I, like the girls on the View sometimes have no filter, no problem….not really. This conclusion came to me like a hard left to the jaw, last night as I turned on my ipad to browse photos. I noticed a video had been made, so I clicked on it. PS don’t ever let your grandchild play with your ipad. As I clicked play it took me a min to realize that it was of myself, my daughter and my sister/friend. The images were blurry and dark, but our voices were obnoxiously identifiable. We were watching bashing some of the Miss America contestants.  We were not drinking, we were chowing down on junk food and clearly not using a filter, as our precious little G recorded and took in our ugly entertainment. It ended quickly, but my heart was cringing like I had given it a dill pickle, followed by a burning in my gut. I then deleted it feeling sick, yet humbled and grateful we weren’t on live TV.

Join me today, as we filter our thoughts and speech. The whole world might not be listening but….our little world is.

“Father, forgive us and help us to be ever mindful keeping our thoughts and speech pure, lovely, noble and worthy of your glory. In Jesus name Amen.”
