Calendars, Clocks and Craziness

I can hardly type a thing. I actually have closed my eyes and am literally typing this while things behind me are going bang and crash. Next to my desk is a full length mirror and I slightly squeeze open one eye to catch the reflection in the mirror behind me. Standing, with one leg on a step stool and the other shakily leaning on his cheap plywood desk Hubs, is trying to hang a TV antenna on the wall. When I see the desk top moving slightly under his weight, I quickly shut my eye again as something falls off and onto the floor! By now he is grumbling and clearly taxed. As things start falling, a curse word goes flying across the room. I want to shut my ears, and say a silent but desperate prayer for him.

We are both in the art/study room working on projects today. Hubs, attends college online and needs to work on an assignment, but he also wants to catch the football game when it comes on. We recently after years of frustration with our cable and internet service told the Company to disconnect our cable, as Hubs said we can still get a couple channels with an antenna box type thingy. Apparently the higher above the TV it goes, the better the reception, cuz he’s pretty high up there doing his circus routine.

Now that he’s come down and is sitting at his desk beginning to work, he is quiet and calm as the channel he was wanting is coming in. However, it won’t be long until he starts yelling and cheering at the game, so I guess I’ll put in my ear buds and pipe in some nature sounds writing a little before I start cooking supper.

The topic pressing my creative side on this Sunday afternoon revolves around, calendars, clocks and craziness. Earlier I told Hubs about an upcoming event and the date and time asking him to put it in his phone calendar so he would not book something else. We both have had our minds and plates full these days between work, school, marriage and children..just like many of you. We have missed events, overbooked and then ran from one to the other trying to fit it all in. Our concentration is lacking along with our memory even on simple daily tasks. Our kids both say it might be time for a move to the old folks home. We are feeling a little crazy from our busy schedules.

Most of my blog articles are kept short and I post tri-weekly keeping in mind that everyone reading has a calendar to follow, a time frame to fit into and the overwhelming feeling of being a little crazy from it all.

Hubs and I both manage our craziness in different ways. Besides his employment with the police department and his military duties, he does college and he works out, reads and watches TV all of which he makes a priority and the later actually at times drives me a little crazy. I am learning to say “NO” to extra projects and people. Notice I said, learning..

As we finish up our day the craziness around us continues, seems we have forgotten we were going to attend a potluck meal with some of our church family tonight. Oh my!

I hope you’ll join me while we learn to prioritize duties and manage our craziness!

Psalm 59:16 But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.

“God, we never want to overbook our day, leaving out time with you. Let us keep you our first priority, seeking you early in the morning and before our head hits the pillow at night. For you Lord are our refuge, in you we find rest, balance and peace. In Jesus name Amen.”
