Politics and Prayer by Leigh Haynes

We Welcome Leigh Haynes to the Patio this morning! The following devotional is straight from her heart;

Every day, I’m bombarded in social media with information on the potential Presidential candidates. Each day I am disheartened, saddened, and disgusted. My first reaction is to ignore it and go on to the next post.

Today as I am spending time with God, He reminded me that ignoring the problem will not help.
We need to take action and that action is prayer. Today is the National Day of Prayer. What better time do we have to gather our collective voices and lift them to the only one who can truly help? We need to mix our politics with prayer!
So join me today…. in falling to our knees and lifting up these individuals to God. I know He goes before us in this battle, and it’s is not ours to win, but I also know prayer works miracles! Matthew 18:20 tells us “For when two or more are gathered together, I am there with them.”

Sweet Father,
I come before you to lift our broken country and leaders into your arms. I lift up our current leaders so that they will be able to make decisions that will be pleasing to You. I pray for their families that they might be a light in a very dark realm for those leaders. I want to also lift up those seeking office. That you will soften their heart to You and Your plans. I pray for wisdom and discernment for those individuals and those supporting them. Thank You for blessing us with a great country founded on You. You are the Great Savior and only through You will we find peace. In your Son’s

name I pray, Amen.
