Gory yet Fabulous!

Waking early has it’s benefits. As I sipped raspberry tea from my polka dotted cup, I sat at my desk looking out the window. Never before have I witnessed such a gory yet fabulous sight (other than on TV).
Towards the woodpile a mound of dirt began erupting from the ground. Wonder struck me as never before had I seen the mole at work. I have however sunk into the many holes the unwanted critter leaves. My yard is literally falling in. Before I could swallow my second sip, along the grass crept The Black Heathen. Normally Blackie is after my tweets, and I have shouted at him before “eat the moles, leave the birds alone!!”.
Now I silently sit in desperate anticipation as Blackie creeps quickly across the wet grass to the fresh mound of dirt. He sits only momentarily arching his back, head to the ground and SNAP! he returns to the house at mock speed, as I jump up and cheer! Quickly my face scrunches at the thought “he’s headed for the patio!”. I run to the back door hoping I’m not witnessing him eating and leaving this detested intruder stripped and in pieces on my precious patio. Whew! he mosey’d on to a private location where my eyes couldn’t follow from inside.
Such excitement has me speechless, thoughtless……..NOT.
Many times I’ve wanted to get rid of this Black Heathen, and yet my heart hurt for him …he has baggage. His family moved out and left him. He sat at their front door and cried for days. Another neighbor fed him, but he’s roamed the streets and yards for over a year now. His appearance is lacking, and I’m not quite what you’d call a cat lover.
Oddly he likes my Patio paradise and seems to linger when I’m not around.
Good thing I stayed indoors this morning!
