Prim and Proper

The summer sunshine has been faithful in keeping things so hot outside we’ve been hanging out indoors. The girls and I ditch the cabin fever when we can, and take refuge in the coolness of our friend’s pool. Paddling and splashing around we enjoy dipping our hot faces into the cool water. Keeping the Gbaby calm seems to be a challenge. She enjoyed being in a pool last year, but this year every visit has proven to give her anxiety issues. We spend each visit coaxing her to let go of our neck and hold on to the float around her waist. By the end of our swim time she is somewhat willing to let go, but her eyes are constantly making sure we are a breath away. Another issue is pottying in the pool. Gbaby is 3 and has been potty trained for awhile now. Usually we spend half our visit running in and out of the house to use the bathroom.. My gracious friend doesn’t mind us trotting in and out, however I am annoyed by this in and out, in and out action. Today, I allowed G to stand out in the grass and let it go. I then rinsed her off, before getting back into the pool. I’m smiling as I type because I can just imagine the reactions as you read this. Let’s just pray there is no harm done and that when Gbaby is 14 and invited to a swim party she doesn’t just  jump out of the pool doing the “peepee dance” squat in the grass and let it go! If she does I will do like every other good Meme and blame her improper behavior on her Mother.

In all honesty I cannot think of one bible verse that goes along with this event, mainly due to my chuckling as my daughter sits in the background with her arms crossed and rolling her eyes. I need to post it before she jumps up and deletes it.

I guess I’ll leave us with this for thought; sometimes our actions and reactions are cute and harmless, but in the long run if they become a habit how will they affect us?
