Warrior’s and Monster Drinks

My morning sleep was interrupted by the jingle of my phone. I got a text message from Hubs, saying he had passed a kidney stone. This makes stone #3 for him. Stone #2 a few years ago had to be surgically removed, so I’m thanking God that he has passed #3. I know how painful these are for him, and it pains me that he is across the pond without me there to help.

Evidently the energy drinks are catching up with him. I scolded him for drinking them. He then text me that he needs his comfort drinks. Upon reading this text my heart ached for him and all the others. They are in the midst of death, and even our warriors need comfort.
My prayer for him and all the others is that they will not see their need for comfort as a weakness, and that they will call on God, who brings life in the midst of death.
David was a warrior, a man after Gods own heart. In Psalms 23:4 he wrote “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
Like a shepherd using his staff to count, guide, and rescue his sheep, so does our shepherd God care for us even when our surroundings are dim, his presence brings comfort.
When You Need Comfort, Where Do You Turn?
