Acting Ugly

My morning started off with a stressful situation, and I was already having a stressful dream before I woke up.
My reaction to the stress, was less than perfect. “Guess my sugar was low”. I needed to eat. While I am not diabetic, this phrase has become the quirky reply that my daughter and I have come up with when we act ugly. We also use this as a reprieve when we see other’s acting ugly.

Strangely, enough I have found that when I do eat a little something, it does give my mental state a nice “hug”. Now whether this is in fact what others need, I don’t always know. But in looking at their “ugly” reactions with this in mind, either relaxes my reaction, or gives me time to decipher if their actions are truly ugly, or is there another issue going on. Either way, I’m giving myself grace, and offering it to them.

Next time you’re in line at the coffee shop, grocery store, department store and you witness someone’s ugliness, repeat to yourself “guess their sugar’s low”. Or you could hand them a “snickers bar”.
