I Hear You Knocking

As soon as I opened the blinds I got a glimpse of a waking sky. Opening the door my sniffer detected a welcoming combination of heavy dew and dirt. My blooms are vibrant and the tweets are singing as they peck. In the distance I hear the rhythm of a woodpecker knocking. All is well on the Patio. All is well with me as I sit’n’chat with God.

As I quietly listen and perch, I reflect on something I heard recently. A comment that was made while covering the topic of why we should attend church. It was simply this “I’ve been going, but it ain’t done me no good”. I smiled as I know this person very well and love them deeply, and those words sounded familiar. I know this person has built a wall around their heart to keep out those “church goers” that have hurt him.

In my life there have been times I didn’t attend church. I had been hurt by my church friends. But for me like the woodpecker knocking in the distance, I heard God knocking on my heart and calling to me. Piece by piece I tore my wall of bitterness, hurt, and mistrust down.

My faith isn’t in corporate worship and those who attend. My faith is in my Creator not in those who attend church with me. They are struggling too. We are not perfect. But for me like the woodpecker knocking in the distance, I hear God knocking on the door of my heart. He calls to me in many ways and points me in His direction and attending church is His direction for me.

Can you hear God knocking?

Don’t let your focus be on those “church goers” let it be on your relationship with your Creator. Replace that bitterness wall fall into forgiveness.

Can you hear Him calling?
What direction will you go?

Where is your faith?
Do you hear
