I Could, But I’m Not

Mother used to say “Ignore them and they’ll quit”.

Here I am 40 years later, witnessing first hand on a daily basis the same issue. These days Mom isn’t here to give her misguided but well intended advice.

People are Agitators. Old people, young people, whole families. It seems to me to be a Character flaw. Nothing good comes from provoking others. What kind of person receives a rush from the tears, desperation and angry outbursts of another? Why don’t they know that there is a world of difference between an occasional little teasing done in love vs a continual picking that produces insecurity, mistrust, loss of interest and even separation. Why is it that when agitators are confronted about stopping this behavior their attitude is always the same….. “I could, but I’m not”.

Are there agitators in your life and how do you deal with them?

Join me today, by leaving your advice, experiences, and thoughts.

  1. Jan thank you for sharing with us, the very wise advice from the Bible; one can never go wrong following it’s instruction! Hugs back atcha!

  2. My advice is as misguided as your mother’s. I just don’t care what others think of me, either they like me or they don’t. But, Luke 6:27-29 says to love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you and to pray for those who mistreat you. And to turn the other cheek. Romans 12:19. Reminds us to try not to get even to let God take revenge. This can be very hard sometimes, sending hugs your way!
