Christmas Is Not Over

For some the celebrating is yet to come!
Amongst the family, work schedules and availability of vacation time can interfere with the actual day of celebrating Holidays. So for some the celebrating is yet to come.

Buying gifts for grandchildren possibly happens all year long therefore extending the gift giving aspect of Christmas. Shhh, I might be telling on us just a tad.
Stores are still offering sales associated with Christmas and New Years, and some gifts have not been bought yet due to waiting on that “next paycheck”.

Christmas decorations are put up as early as Nov and some taken down as late as Feb. Unless you’re a redneck woman, like Gretchen Wilson then your Christmas lights stay up on your front porch all year long.

Maybe, you find yourself in one or two of these scenarios? Or you might fall into the group that reflects and lives the true meaning of Christmas all year long.

You see I’m part of that later group. I tend to always leave one decoration up well past the celebrated date. A memento that when looked upon brings me to my knees in humble worship, quiet prayer and overwhelming gratitude. A reminder to stop and focus during my busy schedule on the things in life that really matter like faith, love, and selfless giving.

Join me, by starting out 2015 still celebrating Christmas!

  1. Very nice reminder Trixie, and insight into the Catholic faith. I didn’t learn until I was in High School that Jesus wasn’t really born in Dec, and that he was close to 2? when the Magi found him. Thank you for commenting, and may you celebrate Christmas all year!

  2. You’re right Christmas is not over. I never understood why people took down their decorations immediately after Christmas. Don’t forget there are twelve days of Christmas. You don’t take the decorations down until after January 6th or the Epiphany when the Magi came to the infant Jesus. Not sure if all faiths celebrate this, but it is an important day and feast day in the Catholic Church. So growing up all decorations stayed up until at least that day. Of course I usually get busy and then the twelve days of Christmas turn into about twenty. But so what, I love the decorations and think they’re nice to have around the house and why not all year long.
