I’m Not Totally Marriage Material

I’m secretly hoping that Hubs skips reading this blog entry….”shhhh don’t tell him.” It’s not everyday that a wife wants to admit a flaw in herself, that could contribute to the “other half” getting a big head. I honestly don’t choose to write or speak on marriage, but sometimes it just happens. When the
Spirit calls, I must obey.

We are far from being the perfect couple, we have major differences and sometimes I write on those. Hubs says we have a great marriage, so I must be doing a little something right…hee hee. Now who’s got the big head!? Truthfully speaking, obtaining balance and wellness in a marriage relationship is hard work, and requires both spouses striving for the same goal. Balance and wellness are much more rewarding, lasting and vital characteristics than all the others. Just my two cents but if you can achieve these two, all the rest will fall into place. We are still working on these.

Coming into a marriage with past baggage, unrealistic expectations and “set in our ways” seems to be the norm for most everyone, to one degree or another. Let’s be honest with ourselves we are not totally marriage material, but we get married anyway, hoping and praying it will work.

I recently read a fellow blogger/pastor/friend’s post titled “Five Types of Women You Shouldn’t Marry” http://www.kevinathompson.com/five-types-of-women-you-shouldnt-marry/
I was shocked to read that I resembled a few of these types, but most strongly on #3. Where do you find yourself?

The only thing saving me here, and I hope you find it saving as well, is that we……are all on a journey to recovery, change, maturity, balance and wellness in all areas of our lives, and we see ourselves and each other with Gods eyes.

Join me today as we take action to becoming marriage material, especially if we are already married. Keep on with your journey, pray for your spouse as you journey together.

“God, give me eyes that see my spouse and myself as you see us. Heal our hurts, and help us to achieve balance and wellness within ourselves and our marriage, and all our friendships. Humbly and thankfully, In Jesus name Amen.”
