Getting Your Head out of Your…Past!

Another refreshing morning on the patio! The heavy dew laden grass feels cool on my bare feet and I’ve left footprints heading out to fill the birdbath. As the sun peeks it’s head out from behind a cloud, the golden rays catch the dew drops on the flower petals, giving them the appearance of earlobes adorned by diamond earrings. As I sit and soak in all of Gods creation, I feel as if have been through a draught. I can’t praise HIM enough, I want to linger in HIS presence and talk HIS ear off.

This is how I felt recently when my girl V came to visit. We hadn’t seen each other in 2 years, and since I’m the big communicator most our contact is initiated by me. Feeling, like I was in a season of draught, I longed for her visit. Coming together we shared a lot of “girl talk.” You know, we shared the stuff our husbands never need to hear, and some they don’t want too ever hear. It’s hard to keep a relationship going when you haven’t lived close to each other in 19 yrs, and 800 miles is spread out between you. In a way, we picked up right where we left off, almost like we’d never been apart.

But, as the second day of the visit came to an end, it was apparent that my girl had changed, and I too have changed. I tried hard to recreate some of our “old days” planning specific events for us, but they fell through. I expected to have fun like we did way back when we were girls. Changes, and unrealistic expectations were the culprit, and with my head in the past I didn’t make any outstanding new memories. To my regret our friendship didn’t receive what it needed to grow however, love for my friend will always be present even though we are miles and miles apart, and our bond will remain, as we are tied by our love for the Lord.

You know what I love about patio time? I love that God never changes. While the sunrise and sunset look different everyday and night, God is still God and he is there waiting for me. He is waiting for you. He loves and accepts us where we are. He stays with us through our changes, through our seasons and hopes that we use our freewill wisely, bringing HIM glory. A relationship with HIM is never one sided.

Join me today as we make relationship changes growing and moving forward, getting our head out of our past! Loving ourselves and our friends through the seasons and changes in life. Let us strive to make changes that will bring God glory, keeping our relationship with him two sided and ever growing.

“Lord, you never change, your presence in our lives brings growth to every season, and refreshment where there may be draught. Thank you for your love. Thank you for your healing….and thank you for our earthly friends. In Jesus name Amen.”
