I’m Not Sorry

When, I work at my desk all day, it makes my back and body ache. I usually start around 5 a.m. so by 9 a.m. I’m ready for a stretch. A few days ago my stretch didn’t happen until about 11 a.m. I walked out of the coolness of the house into the backyard and stood stretching in a spot of sunshine. The warmth of the sun permeated my body from head to toe. I kept my eyes closed, as they were also exhausted from all the reading I’d been doing. I stood slipping my shoes off, getting those toes some much needed sun as well. After getting all the kinks worked out, and soaking up the vitamin D I then walked towards a bird feeder to see if it needed filling. When I turned to go back into the house, I caught a glimpse of the Black Heathen sitting in a hiding place. Startled and creeped out, I stood glaring him down. He just sat there with his attitude starting back at me as if to say….Sorry, I’m not sorry.

Awhile back I was standing in a furniture store and a lady of different culture walked passed me, arguing with her husband. As she passed I unknowingly watched her and caught a glimpse of the back of her jacket with the words printed….I’m not sorry. It startled and creeped me out.
Little did I know until this week, when I visited the mall, that a lot of clothing is made with this saying, and it is used for a multitude of reasons, but always meant with attitude.

This morning as I read in Romans chapter 6 my eyes rest on verse 21: What benefit did you reap at the time from the things you are now ashamed of?
I think of this saying…Sorry, I’m not sorry….but as I meditate on the verse and apply it to my past of which I did a lot of things I am now sorry for, and a lot of people did things to me which they should be sorry for….but they probably still wear shirts that say….I’m not sorry. At any rate there was no benefit ever made from my past disobedient living. Today, I reap an abundant harvest from walking in the light of obedience and in Gods word. And guess what….I’m not sorry.

Join me today……as we use our attitude for those things at are pure, lovely, noble, peaceful and that line up with living in Gods light.

“Father, create in us a pure heart, renew a right spirit within us. In Jesus name amen.”

  1. Very true! I think there’s another side, too. Often when I hear “sorry not sorry” it’s for something they shouldn’t be apologizing for…such as having an opinion.
