I Don’t Love You, but Jesus Does

It seems only fitting to write a little something on the “love” subject since it is close to Valentine’s Day. However, you’ll find this might not be the typical musings found printed around this trendy holiday.
My thoughts and prayers, as I write this are with all of those I’ve come into contact with since, the beginning of 2015 and a few before that, who have shared with me their heartaches and struggles regarding love.

Here, are a few very common scenarios that you, might be able to relate to and be enlightened from;

The first one is regarding a single looking for a double; and while there is a seemingly suitable double available and very interested, our single just… isn’t feelin it. Single loves Jesus, but just doesn’t love this particular double in a romantic way. There is no way to let someone down easy who feels more for you, than you feel for them. Our double here needs to remember a couple things in order to survive well this rejection; that no matter what.. Jesus loves them and deems them worthy. A person will question their worth if they base it on the acceptance and approval of earthly people. Most people mean well and could bring someone happiness yet they cannot be the heart of where the other person gets their worth.
Our second scenario goes something like this; husband and wife living in a marriage for 20 years, sharing two wonderful almost adult children. They do things daily together but, he isn’t meeting her need for affection and hasn’t for years. She never communicates this to him openly, but drops hints here and there which he sees but doesn’t understand, and never asks, assuming she is going through some sort of midlife crisis. She feels alone and hopeless. One day she leaves and then divorces him. He is left feeling blindsided. They both love Jesus and even attended church together, but they never learned how to effectively communicate. Their love for each other has withered.
Then there are the two newlyweds, young and immature or even aged and immature, at either rate this couple can barely get into the threshold door because of the past baggage they are carrying with them into their new life together. Bags filled with past hurts, habits and hang-ups that have never been addressed, now adding more of the same to their present. Both wanting to do the right thing by each other knowing, this is what Jesus wants them to do, and they love Jesus and want to obey him….but they suppress their feelings never addressing them, refusing to get help and believing they can overcome on their own, and so they never heal or separate from the past. A lasting fulfilling future together… is not promising.
It is a wonderful thing that Jesus loves us….all of us, because there are times when we don’t love ourselves or others. If we seek HIM, he will teach us how to love with his heart, and see ourselves and others with his eyes. Learning to do this will seem unnatural to us, but doing it will surpass anything we could ever imagine if we just try to love like he loves. https://youtu.be/bnc5thfP-qY
I hope you’ll join me as I give Jesus a chance to love me, and teach me how to love others. May we know that he loves us, and that our worth comes from being HIS child, and not in being the other half of someone else.
“God, we love you, we trust you alone with our broken hearts, forgive us for the hearts we’ve broken. May we have the courage and strength to love like you do. Thank you for loving us all and loving us enough to die for us. In Jesus name Amen.”
